Graphic Design Specialist Responsibilities: 

  • Performs duties consistent with full understanding of Chemonics’ requirements, policies, procedures, tools, quality standards, and broader internal and external client strategic goals  
  • Responds quickly to client requests, assesses priority for each task, and takes timely action to meet client needs and resolve basic issues
  • Manages multiple projects, working with diverse clients worldwide 
  • Works closely with others in department to coordinate and improve workflow and customer service
  • Coordinates production of printed materials and purchase of other graphics related materials with outside printers and vendors as required by project needs
  • Creates innovative, original designs and layouts with a strong sense of typography and appropriate use of color and fonts for readability
  • Solves design and visual communication challenges in a variety of formats (charts, infographics, maps, logos, posters, brochures, websites, social media cards, and newsletters)
  • Guides clients through the creative brief process to solicit input for the scope of the project
  • Participates in project meetings and discussions relating to appropriate graphics methods/techniques to meet project requirements
  • Understands and applies the principles of data visualization to the charts and infographics they create
  • Understands and applies corporate and client brands appropriately to all products
  • Selects and edits appropriate photos that reflect Chemonics’ work 
  • Reviews requests for proposals and supports proposal teams by developing effective and innovative graphics that enhance our technical approach 
  • Applies working knowledge of design to contribute to proposal team decisions
  • Creates easy-to-understand graphics that appeal to different types of audiences, specifically those who are visual learner
  • Demonstrates maturity, dependability, integrity, ethical behavior, and excellence in all work assignments
  • Helps train and mentor staff and shares knowledge with peers
  • Facilitates meetings and is responsible for developing agendas to achieve stated goals, documenting progress, agreements, and issues, and providing follow up
  • Understands roles and responsibilities; promotes strategies for effective teamwork and cultivates collaborative working relationships across the company
  • Researches and recommends hardware and software to improve core graphic design deliverables and expand department services
  • Keeps up-to-date with industry trends and uses this knowledge to advance the design team’s goal of continuously improving design outputs
  • Maintains and expands technical knowledge in graphic design and other technical interests by attending internal and external trainings (including those available digitally through InDepth and other sources like LinkedIn     Learning,, Youtube, etc.), conferences, and other design-related event

Graphic Design Specialist Requirements: 
  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional design experience working in a design or advertising agency and/or corporate marketing and communications department
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in relevant technical competency area or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects require
  • Technical skills in some or all of the following strongly preferred: illustration, photography, videography, video editing, motion graphics, and/or animation
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, solve problems creatively, and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Extensive knowledge of design history, typography, and mechanical and digital production techniques
  • Experience overseeing four-color printing through delivery
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PC and Mac hardware/software programs
  • A strong electronic portfolio with a variety of samples
