We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our retail client's team as a hybrid Product Development Design Assistant in Framingham, MA.
As a crucial member of their design team, you will work closely with the Senior Designer to bring private label apparel designs to life. It will be your responsibility to execute according to the strategic merchandise plan, develop strong customer service and working relationships with internal and external contacts and to consistently shop all levels of stores including our client's own for fashion/trends/color direction and value.
Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Senior Designer design activities surrounding selected Private Label programs.
- Continually research Color & Trend information.
- Maintain knowledge of competitive products/brands.
- Travels domestically and overseas to retail shop, attend print and fabric shows.
- Interpret design concepts and develops them into new products.
- Design, develop and execute technically accurate artwork for company's private label programs, working with the Product Development team from the concept meeting through the prototype process and artwork execution.
- Update the status of multiple projects, anticipating problems and devising solutions.
- Select, manage and evaluate in-house freelance services for artwork development.
- Ensure strict deadlines are met.
- Provide direction and delegate projects to freelancers based on ability.
- Preforms special projects, as assigned.
- Resolves issues as they arise in a timely manner.
- Prioritize work load.
- Act with Integrity.
- Research and recommend color and trend services.
- Develop and design original artwork for Private Label Apparel & Hangtag Labels.
- Purchase artwork and development samples within R & D budget.
- Recommend appropriate creative direction.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience.
- PC skills including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop, IGrafix, U4ia, Prima Vision.
- Detail-oriented.
- Effective communication skills.
- Developed fashion sense for clothing design and construction.
- Ability to communicate and interpret conceptual design ideas.
- Strong organizational and follow through skills.
- Works well in a team environment.
- Ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates expertise in their functional area.
- Ability to sketch.
- Knowledge of trend/color/concept services.
- 1+ years in Product Development with emphasis on designing apparel
